Wellington, KY

Wellington is a small home-rule city in Louisville’s Upper Highlands, established in 1946 and built around roughly 259 homes. The 2020 census counted 564 residents. Its location puts a compact residential government inside Louisville’s larger street and service network: the city sits near the interstate, while downtown, shopping districts, restaurants, parks, and historical sites are a short trip away. Wellington’s tree-lined streets and sidewalks give the place a neighborhood scale, but the daily work and errands of residents reach into the wider Louisville economy.

Commission meetings are held at Assumption High School, which makes the school one of the useful landmarks in Wellington’s civic routine even though it serves the surrounding Louisville area.
