About Wellston

Wellston is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Norman Township, Manistee County, Michigan, United States. The 2020 census counted 254 residents. The community is in the Manistee National Forest just south of M-55, about 21 miles east of Manistee and about 29 miles west of Cadillac. Wellston was named for its first postmaster, Adelmer J. Wellston's local map joins its older history to the places and landscapes that still shape the town today, all within the wider Michigan setting.
