West Bend, IA

West Bend is a quiet, friendly town tucked into the open farm country of northwest Iowa. While the town originally took its name from a bend in the Des Moines River, its biggest claim to fame is the Shrine of the Grotto of the Redemption. Handcrafted by a local priest starting in 1912, this massive collection of minerals, crystals, and petrified stone fills an entire city block and draws visitors from all over.
