West Burlington, IA

West Burlington is a Des Moines County city pressed against Burlington and the Mississippi River bluffs. The 2020 census counted 3,197 residents. It is a compact city with a surprisingly broad service footprint: the West Burlington Independent School District, the Healthwest medical campus, Southeastern Community College, retail and manufacturing businesses, and the RecPlex sports complex all serve the city and its neighbors. The district itself covers only about two square miles and has no bus routes, which tells you how tightly the city sits inside the larger Burlington area. Community Park and the 12.3-acre city park system give West Burlington its everyday outdoor side, with a public pool and recent park improvements.
