The North Campus sits roughly a ten-minute walk south of the historic commercial district, bringing classes, move-in days, performances, athletics, and commencement into the rhythm of borough streets. The university's 406-acre campus also includes a 100-acre natural area, residence halls, athletic facilities, and an academic quad listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Downtown, restaurants, shops, county offices, and cultural venues operate within the same compact street grid. Everyday movement reflects the constraints of a dense 1.85-square-mile county seat.
