Serving as a far northwestern suburb of Chicago, the community of approximately 7,900 was first settled in 1835 by John and Nancy Oatman who established a pioneer tavern and store. Zoned within Community Unit School District 300, the village features a well-preserved historic downtown district and the Spring Hill Mall commercial area.
