About West Goshen
West Goshen is a Tulare County CDP just west of Visalia, a small agricultural community near Highways 99 and 198. The wider Goshen area began as Goshen Junction in 1872, when the Central Pacific’s San Joaquin branch laid out a townsite. A branch line to Visalia followed in 1874, and by 1883 the stop had hotels, a passenger-and-freight depot, and a role in moving wheat from the surrounding farms. West Goshen remains tied to that rail-and-agriculture map, while students are served by Visalia Unified School District. The useful local shorthand is simple: west of Visalia, alongside the highway corridor, with the old railroad settlement still underneath the name.
