About West Lawn
West Lawn is a Berks County census-designated place that used to be a borough. Voters in West Lawn and Spring Township approved dissolution in 2004, and the borough became part of Spring Township on January 1, 2006. The old municipal label is gone, but Wilson Senior High School and Whitfield Elementary School remain inside the place’s map. That makes West Lawn a useful reminder that a place can keep its name after its government changes. West Lawn is a Berks County community with a former borough’s footprint, a current school presence, and a very specific New Year’s Day transfer of municipal responsibility.
