West Milford, WV

West Milford was chartered in 1818 around a mill on a ford of the West Fork River, and the river still gives the town its name and setting. The town council meets on the third Tuesday each month under a mayor-council plan. West Milford's everyday municipal map includes a recorder, water clerk, public works director, and fire department; law enforcement comes through the Harrison County Sheriff's Office and West Virginia State Police. The local fire department also coordinates county volunteer departments across its protection district. A river crossing, a mill site, a town hall, and first response still define this small Harrison County town.
