About West Pelzer

West Pelzer is an Anderson County town on the west side of Pelzer, with the Saluda River running along the neighboring town’s eastern edge. It began as Frankville, a planned community laid out by surveyor John Franks in the 1910s, then took the West Pelzer name by 1918. Churches, schools, small businesses, and resident-built homes filled the streets beyond the nearby company town. West Pelzer is upstate South Carolina in a river-and-mill-country arrangement, with Pelzer’s textile history next door and its own streets telling a separate story.
