West Point, CA

Set high in the Calaveras County foothills, West Point is a quiet, close-knit mountain town with roots stretching back to California's early Gold Rush days. Scout Kit Carson named the area while searching for a trail across the Sierra Nevada, and it soon became an important trading post and logging center. Living here means plenty of open space, scenic pine forests, and a slower pace of life. The community stays connected through long-standing local traditions, most notably the annual Lumberjack Day, which brings neighbors together every fall for parades, logging competitions, and barbecue.
