West Puente Valley, CA

Walnut Creek Channel and a Southern Pacific railroad right-of-way mark parts of West Puente Valley's northwestern and western edges, while Baldwin Park, West Covina, La Puente, Industry, and neighboring unincorporated communities surround this compact part of the San Gabriel Valley. The 1.87-square-mile CDP had 22,959 residents in 2020. Its land use is mostly single-family residential, with industrial activity concentrated beyond its western and southern boundaries. Many smaller streets end in cul-de-sacs; North Puente and South Sunset avenues, Amar Road, and West Francisquito Avenue form its main through corridors. Two county parks provide substantial public gathering and recreation space within the community.

Bassett Park on the west side has Los Angeles County's first artificial-turf soccer field, along with a playground, splash pad, skate park, picnic shelters, and barbecue pits. Allen J. Martin Park on the east side adds athletic fields, a playground, and a small community center. Nearby Sunkist Library in La Puente occupies 8,314 square feet and includes children's and teen areas, a 30-person meeting room, homework services, public computers, and laptops for in-library use. The branch also distributes Metro TAP cards, placing a practical transit service beside its reading, study, and meeting functions.
