About West Swanzey

West Swanzey is Swanzey’s largest village, set on both sides of the Ashuelot River in Cheshire County. Main Street crosses the river on the West Swanzey Covered Bridge, also called the Thompson Bridge, a town-truss structure built in 1832 and listed on the National Register. The bridge ties the village center to Route 10 and keeps the river crossing right in the middle of the local map. West Swanzey is southwestern New Hampshire in a neat old pattern: river, road, bridge, village.
