West Union, OH

West Union is the Adams County seat in southern Ohio, about 55 miles southeast of Cincinnati. The 2020 census counted 3,004 residents. The village was laid out in 1803, and a post office has operated here since 1805. State Routes 41, 125, and 247 meet through downtown, so the courthouse and road junction still organize the place the way they did when the county seat took shape. Adams County/Ohio Valley School District, West Union High School, and the West Union Public Library keep everyday institutions close to the center.

The Adams County Courthouse sits on West Main Street, and the village is also near one of Ohio's active Amish communities. County roads spread from West Union into the Appalachian foothills, while Cincinnati remains the larger regional connection.
