About West Wood
West Wood is a census-designated place in Carbon County just west of Price, the county seat. The 2020 census counted 1,066 residents. Its residential shape is relatively recent: the Westwood subdivision began in 1975, and Castleview Hospital's opening in 1980 brought more people to the west side of Price. Fairgrounds Road and Westwood Boulevard form the local street frame, with US 6 separating the community from Carbonville to the north and northeast. The highway gives West Wood a clear edge. Most daily connections run through Price.
Castleview Hospital is a 39-bed regional facility with physician practices and urgent care, so the hospital campus is a practical landmark as well as a major institution for Carbon and Emery counties. West Wood remains a residential address beside that medical center, with the fairgrounds roads and highway providing the main orientation. The arrangement is easy to picture: homes west of Price, the hospital across the city line, and the wider Carbon Valley opening out from US 6.
