Weston, WV

Weston is Lewis County's seat in north-central West Virginia, along the West Fork River where Stonecoal Creek joins it. The 2020 census counted 3,943 residents. The city dates to 1818, and I-79, U.S. 19, 33, and 119 tie it to surrounding counties. Two institutions make Weston especially recognizable: the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum and the Museum of American Glass in West Virginia. Downtown's Main Avenue has the glass museum at 230 Main, with collections, a glass club, and regular events; the Downtown and H Camp historic districts keep older buildings in the city map.

The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday and hosts a monthly Glass Club meeting. Its Main Avenue address puts the collection directly in the downtown historic district. Jackson's Mill, Stonewall Jackson's childhood home about four miles north, operates as a 4-H facility and West Virginia University Extension conference center. Weston is a county-seat city where courthouse work, glassmaking history, a major historic complex, and nearby youth and education facilities meet in an Appalachian river corridor.
