About Westphalia

Westphalia got its start in the 1880s as a railroad stop in Anderson County, settled by German Catholic families who named the town after their former home. That close-knit heritage is still visible today, centered around the historic St. Teresa of Avila church. It is a quiet rural community where younger kids attend elementary school right in town, while older students make the short drive into Garnett for junior high and high school.
