Wheeling, WV

Wheeling is an Ohio River city in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, with a history far larger than its current size. It was once Virginia's largest city west of the Appalachians and later served as a crucial center in West Virginia's creation. The city has old bridges, steep neighborhoods, riverfront industry, and one of the Madonna of the Trail monuments along the National Old Trails Road. Wheeling feels historic, hilly, and river-bound, with grand older buildings beside a working Appalachian cityscape.
