Whispering Pines, AZ

Whispering Pines is a tiny census-designated place in northern Gila County, Arizona, set in the upper valley of the East Verde River. It sits between Washington Park and Beaver Valley, in a cooler, wooded part of Arizona that feels very different from the desert lowlands. The community is served by the Payson Unified School District and has only a small population. Whispering Pines is best understood as a residential mountain-area settlement near Payson, with landscape doing most of the talking.
