White Bear Lake, MN

White Bear Lake is a Ramsey County city on one of the largest lakes in the Twin Cities metro area, with a small portion extending into Washington County. The lake gives the city much of its character, from fishing for bass and northern pike to older resort-era history tied to the Lake Superior and Mississippi Railroad. Downtown remains important enough that voters backed a major school bond in 2019 for a new high school there. Local names include Smarte Carte, Magnepan, and the longtime Cup and Cone ice cream stand.
