About White Rock

White Rock is a residential census-designated place in Los Alamos County, New Mexico, situated on a scenic mesa nine hundred feet above the Rio Grande. Developed in 1949 by the Atomic Energy Commission to house construction workers, the community of approximately 5,700 today serves primarily as a bedroom community for the nearby Los Alamos National Laboratory. Public education is provided by the highly rated Los Alamos Public Schools district.
