At the same time, the job market extends well beyond flight lines, with strong career opportunities in healthcare, agricultural trade, logistics, and an active small business community.

Recreation and weekend hangouts naturally gravitate toward the riverbanks where the Big and Little Arkansas rivers meet. The Keeper of the Plains watches over the water from a stone promontory, drawing crowds each evening when the fire pots around its base are lit at dusk. A short walk along the water brings you to spots like the Botanica gardens, Exploration Place science center, and the Wichita Art Museum. Every summer, the community gathers along the banks for the annual Riverfest, bringing nine days of concerts, food trucks, and river races to the center of town.
