About Wickenburg

Wickenburg is a small Arizona town in Maricopa and Yavapai counties, northwest of Phoenix along the Hassayampa River. Its story is rooted in mining, ranching, and tourism, with prospectors arriving after 1860s gold strikes and guest ranches later becoming a major draw. In the 1950s and 1960s, Wickenburg billed itself as the Dude Ranch Capital of the World. The town still carries that Western Arizona flavor: desert edges, ranch history, and a visitor economy built around cowboy-country identity.
