About Wilhoit
Wilhoit is a Yavapai County CDP that grew out of a road crew and one family. In fall 1924, Francis Aloysius Wilhoit won a subcontract to build culverts for the White Spar Road, now AZ 89, the mountain route out of Prescott. He chose the spot where the place stands, opened a service station, and later expanded to a second garage. Water was hard to find; after wells failed and water was hauled in, he finally located a supply in 1929. That roadside beginning is the useful part of the map: a stop that grew from one service station, with Kirkland handling elementary schooling and Prescott Unified covering the secondary side.
