Wilson, AR

Wilson is an Arkansas Delta city in Mississippi County built around the cotton and logging operation of R. E. Lee Wilson. Founded as a company town in 1886, it grew into a planned agricultural community, and after a 1925 trip to England the Wilson family rebuilt the town’s buildings in Tudor Revival style. The result is an unusually coherent town square and residential district set among productive cropland, with the Mississippi River and Great River Road region shaping the wider landscape.

Today, Wilson’s square holds the Hampson Archeological Museum State Park, local shops, restaurants, the Historic Wilson Theater, and the Wilson Music Series. The museum displays artifacts from the Nodena site and ties the modern city to the Indigenous history of the Arkansas Delta.
