Wilsonville, OR

Alphonso Boone, a grandson of Daniel Boone, settled beside the Willamette River in 1846 and established Boones Ferry the next year. The crossing gave Boones Landing its name before the community became Wilsonville in 1880. Incorporated in 1969 with roughly 1,000 residents, the city grew to 26,664 people by 2020. Interstate 5 now crosses the river on Boone Bridge and bisects Wilsonville. City-owned South Metro Area Regional Transit connects with TriMet’s WES commuter rail and bus service. Wilsonville also includes the planned communities of Charbonneau, annexed south of the river in 1971, and Villebois on the western edge; Coffee Lake Creek and its wetlands occupy part of the city’s west side.
