About Wilton
Wilton is a Franklin County town beside Wilson Lake, with a former mill center spread along Wilson Stream and the Sandy River watershed. Maine’s first cotton mill began here in 1810, and later mills—including G. H. Bass & Co.—made Wilton a manufacturing town; many mill-era buildings still shape downtown. Today the lake and Kineowatha Park sit alongside that industrial past, with the western Maine mountains and forests beginning beyond town. Wilton is a Maine place where cotton, shoes, lake water, and a long mill street share the same map.
