About Wimauma

Wimauma is an unincorporated census-designated place in southern Hillsborough County, bordered by Balm, Sun City Center, and Manatee County. Its name was formed from the first letters of founder C.H. Davis's daughters, Will, Maude, and Mary, which gives the place a memorable origin story. The railroad once formed the eastern boundary of the town, and agriculture has long been part of the surrounding landscape. Today Wimauma is changing quickly, with rural land, farmworker history, new subdivisions, and Tampa Bay growth all meeting at once.
