About Winchester

Winchester is a census-designated place in Riverside County, California, situated in the Pleasant Valley region approximately eight miles southwest of Hemet. Founded in 1886 when the area was still part of San Diego County, the community of approximately 4,555 was named for Amy Winchester, the widow of developer Horace Winchester. Local parks are managed by the Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District, and students attend Hemet Unified School District.
