About Windsor
Windsor is an Indian River County CDP on North Hutchinson Island, set between the Indian River and Atlantic Ocean on Florida's Treasure Coast. The private community sits about 20 minutes from Vero Beach and is built around a New Urbanist plan, with an allée of live oaks leading toward a village center. Houses, gardens, fairways, shoreline estates, and shared gathering spaces give the place a carefully composed coastal map.
Windsor's story begins in 1989, when its founders set out to create a town-like community shaped by Anglo-Caribbean architecture and traditional planning. Architects Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk helped define the plan, which places the Village Centre, Post Office, Village Store, Town Hall, golf course, equestrian center, and event spaces within a connected district. Today residents gather around polo, tennis, sailing, arts programs, dining, seasonal festivals, and the Windsor Charitable Foundation. Windsor is a small Census place with an unusually large design idea: a private coastal neighborhood meant to feel like a village with its own rhythm.
