Windsor is a small Shelby County city in central Illinois, set on a 0.63-square-mile footprint at the edge of the Lake Shelbyville region. Its roots are tied to transportation and trade: the railroad reached Windsor in the nineteenth century, and local histories trace the line's arrival to 1856. By 1900, Windsor stood at the crossing of the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway and the Wabash Railway.
