About Windsor

Windsor is a small Aiken County town in the Augusta metropolitan area, with 115 residents at the 2020 census. It sits in the county's eastern side, around Pond Branch and Yarrow Branch, where farm roads and wooded parcels break up the larger county landscape. Aiken County stretches between the mountains and the coast, with the Savannah River to the west and Augusta across the regional line. Windsor's scale is modest, but its place on that map is clear: a rural town inside a large, well-connected county.

The town's name reaches back to Anderson Windsor's 1813 will, which identified land near the two branches. Today the school route is one of the clearest local connections: Oakwood-Windsor Elementary serves younger students, followed by Aiken Middle for sixth grade, Kennedy Middle for grades seven and eight, and South Aiken High. Windsor keeps its own town government while relying on the surrounding county for much of the larger network. Pond Branch, Yarrow Branch, school buses, and the Augusta-area road system give the town its everyday shape.
