Winona is a Mississippi River city in southeastern Minnesota, set in the Driftless Area where bluffs, islands, and river channels shape the landscape. The site was once the Dakota village of Keoxa, and the city later grew into a river and rail center. Winona is home to Winona State University and has multiple historic districts and architecturally significant buildings.
