Winston, OR

Winston is a relaxed small town along the South Umpqua River, about seven miles southwest of Roseburg. Home to around 5,600 residents, it offers a laid-back pace of life framed by green hills and easy access to the water. The community is best known for Wildlife Safari, a 600-acre drive-through animal park right on the edge of town that brings elephants, lions, and cheetahs to the valley. Between floating the river in the summer, visiting Riverbend Park, and enjoying the surrounding countryside, Winston gives you plenty of reasons to get outside.

Daily life here is practical and community-focused. Local kids attend schools in the Winston-Dillard School District, centered around Douglas High School. Winston provides its own grocery stores, casual diners, and neighborhood parks, while a quick drive up to Roseburg covers major retail runs and medical services. The town also sits at a handy crossroads, with Highway 42 heading west toward the Oregon coast and Highway 99 connecting you throughout the Umpqua Valley.
