Wonewoc, WI

Wonewoc is a village along the Baraboo River in Juneau County, Wisconsin, where the 400 State Trail crosses the local map. The village sits in the Driftless Area, and the river route toward Union Center passes Third Castle, a 150-foot sandstone cliff, before reaching Wonewoc. That landscape gives the place a distinct sequence of river bottom, rock face, trail bridges, and village streets. State Highway 33 runs through the area, keeping Wonewoc connected to the larger road map west of Wisconsin Dells.

Recreation here is built into the village's infrastructure. Bakers Field lies directly off the 400 Trail, while American Legion Park includes a pool and campground. The Baraboo River is used for canoe and kayak trips, and the trail supports biking, hiking, horseback riding, and winter snowmobile traffic.
