About Woodburn
Woodburn's public calendar reflects a city where Spanish and English are both part of daily civic life. The city's 2026 library calendar included Spanish storytimes, free English classes, bilingual children's meals and activities, along with Russian storytime, fitness sessions, crafts, and teen programs. Population growth has been rapid: Woodburn rose from 26,013 residents in the 2020 census to an estimated 31,948 in July 2025. Over the 2020-2024 period, 64 percent of occupied homes were owner-occupied, the median owner-occupied value was $331,800, monthly costs for owners with a mortgage were $1,579, and median gross rent was $1,489. Several civic spaces sit in or near the older center. Library Square combines the public library with a playground, stage, and lawn and hosts the annual Music in the Park series; six Tuesday concerts were scheduled there in summer 2026. The restored Woodburn Museum and adjoining Bungalow Theatre occupy a Front Street building dating to 1894, with museum hours three afternoons a week and a small stage, films, art displays, and rentable gathering space.
Second-Friday events bring art, performances, and business activity to Front and First streets, while the three-day Fiesta Mexicana fills Legion Park with a parade, Mexican food and artisan vendors, music, dance, sports, and carnival rides. Centennial Park, the city's largest at 25 acres, has fields, courts, a playground, splash pad, dog park, and annual July Fourth celebration. The Mill Creek Greenway provides paved and natural-surface trail segments, with additional links toward Settlemier Park and downtown under development in 2026. Woodburn Transit currently makes its fixed, weekend, and express routes fare-free; local service meets regional buses at Woodburn Memorial Transit Center, and a route introduced in January 2026 connects the center with Amazon, WinCo, and Do It Best.
