Woodland Heights is a census-designated place in Cranberry Township, where Venango County’s western landscape opens into a mix of forest, farms, stream valleys, and scattered development. The township was laid out as Fairfield in 1806, organized in 1830, and later renamed for Cranberry Swamp. Early settlement followed East Sandy Creek, while stone blast furnaces and the region’s oil-era work left a deeper industrial history across the county.
