Woodland Mills, TN

Woodland Mills is an Obion County city just north of Union City, near the Union City-Hickman Highway. Its name reflects the wooded setting and the mills that drew early activity, while the town's later shape came from a crossing of the Nashville and Northwestern railroads in the late 1850s. The community incorporated in 1968 and remains part of the Obion County Schools system. Union City supplies the nearest larger set of regional connections, but Woodland Mills has its own municipal center and local calendar.

The city community center hosts dances, reunions, and other gatherings, and the senior center gives older residents a regular place to meet. A city park adds tennis courts, a walking track, and a ball field, so recreation is organized around a few familiar facilities. City Hall also keeps a small history area that connects the present government to the railroad and mill settlement that came before it. Woodland Mills is a compact place with a distinctly local rhythm: school, park, community center, and the road south toward Union City.
