About Woodmere
Woodmere is a Cuyahoga County village in the eastern Cleveland orbit, one of the five municipalities that came out of Orange Township. It incorporated in 1944, later than its neighboring villages, and still shares a school identity with them through the Orange City School District. The village is small, but its address sits on a regional map shaped by Chagrin Boulevard and the commercial district serving the old Orange Township communities. The village’s history is easy to miss if you only read the Cleveland metro map, but the 1944 charter and shared school system give it a place in the local story.
Local government provides police and fire protection, while Woodmere’s day-to-day connections run to the Orange school campus, Hunting Valley, Moreland Hills, Orange Village, Pepper Pike, and Cleveland. It feels like a village boundary wrapped around an older township network: a distinct municipal history, shared institutions, and a commercial road that makes the surrounding communities feel close together. That is the useful distinction.
