Woodsdale, OH

Woodsdale is an unincorporated Butler County community about three miles northeast of Hamilton, established in 1867 by the Beckett Paper Company. The railroad made it a stop on the Cincinnati, Hamilton and Dayton line, and the paper mill gave the place its original industrial reason for being. Woodsdale later became known for Woodsdale Island Amusement Park, a reminder that this patch of the Miami Valley once drew visitors as well as mill workers. The Samuel Augspurger House and Farm and Augspurger Schoolhouse are National Register sites. Woodsdale's local shorthand is paper mill, railroad stop, old amusement park, and historic buildings.
