About Woodway

Woodway is a McLennan County city on the western side of the Waco area. Founded in 1865 by Confederate veteran Burl Kendrick, it later took the Woodway name through a citizens' committee in the 1950s. The Carleen Bright Arboretum is a standout local amenity, with gardens, an amphitheater, gazebo, and chapel. Schools are split between Midway and Waco districts. Woodway feels leafy, comfortable, and residential, a quieter Waco-area city with parks, schools, and lake-country access nearby.
