Wyalusing, PA

Wyalusing sits on the northeast bank of the Susquehanna River in Bradford County, where Wyalusing Creek joins the larger waterway. The river is the town’s organizing feature: it shapes the western edge, opens views toward Terry Township across the water, and recalls the days when logs and other goods moved through the valley. Before 1750, the place was known as Gahontoto and was home to the Tehotitachsae, a history that belongs in the town’s story alongside its later borough life.

Modern Wyalusing keeps its local calendar full with the Fall Festival and Street Fair, the Firemen’s Parade, the Camptown Races, and a wine festival. The Rocket-Courier, formed through the merger of papers founded in 1887 and 1923, adds another thread of continuity. Historic sites and the Wyalusing Borough Historic District give the center a visible past, while the Wyalusing Area School District and the surrounding township connect the borough to a broad rural community.
