Yellville, AR

Yellville is Marion County's seat, set in the Ozark Mountains along Crooked Creek with Summit immediately to the north. The creek is more than a line on a map: it runs past City Park and its splash pad, and it helps shape the town's connection to the Buffalo National River and the White River country. County offices, local shops, and the Yellville–Summit school system give the city its everyday center, while roads out of town lead toward Bull Shoals, Mountain Home, and the recreation areas around the Buffalo.

Yellville also knows how to turn local history into a calendar event. The Turkey Trot Festival began in 1945 with a turkey dropped from the Marion County Courthouse, and the tradition still brings people into town each year. That courthouse story fits the place: a county seat with a memorable sense of humor and a strong relationship to its landscape.
