About Young
Young is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Gila County, Arizona, with a remote mountain-ranch feel. It played a central role in the Pleasant Valley War of the late 1800s, one of Arizona's best-known range conflicts. Young did not receive outside electric power until 1965, which says a lot about its isolation. The community has one K-12 school, Young Public School, and sits in a landscape tied to the Salt River, ranching history, and long rural distances.
