Young Harris, GA

Young Harris is a Towns County city in the Blue Ridge Mountains of north Georgia, built around the college that carries its name. The 2020 census counted 1,098 residents. The city began as McTyeire in the late 19th century and was renamed for Young L. G. Harris, whose support helped the local school grow into Young Harris College. U.S. 76 and Georgia 66 meet here, giving the town a road connection through the high country. Young Harris College still shapes the town's calendar, skyline, and sense of arrival, with classrooms, residence halls, sports, and the Rollins Planetarium all packed into the valley.
