About Ypsilanti
Ypsilanti is a Washtenaw County city on the Huron River, best known as the home of Eastern Michigan University. Its settlement story began with a French-Canadian trading post in 1809, and the city later developed a strong industrial and college-town identity. Ford Lake was created when Ford Motor Company dammed the Huron River, adding another layer to the local landscape. Ypsilanti feels more independent and eclectic than a simple Ann Arbor neighbor, with historic buildings, student life, local arts, and working-city roots.
