About Yreka

Yreka is the county seat of Siskiyou County, California, situated near the Shasta River south of the Oregon border. Founded after Abraham Thompson discovered gold along the Siskiyou Trail in 1851, the city of approximately 7,820 is home to the College of the Siskiyous and the Siskiyou County Museum. Public education is administered by the Yreka Union School District.
