About Acworth

Acworth is a Cobb County city northwest of Atlanta, set in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains near Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona. The water and hills give it a clearer outdoor identity than many Atlanta suburbs. Its history also includes the Civil War: on November 13, 1864, the town was burned by the army of General William T. Sherman. Modern Acworth has grown with metro Atlanta, but its lakeside setting and older downtown still give it a recognizable local center.
