Adamstown, MD

Tucked into the scenic valley between Sugarloaf Mountain and the Catoctin range, Adamstown offers a quiet, small-town feel in southern Frederick County. Home to around 2,300 residents, it provides a relaxed country setting with open views, historic farmhouses, and newer neighborhoods spread along Route 85. The area grew around its 19th-century rail stop, and that laid-back, community-centered atmosphere still defines daily life today.

Local kids attend Carroll Manor Elementary right in town before moving on to nearby Frederick County middle and high schools. Weekend recreation is a major draw, with hiking trails at Sugarloaf Mountain, river access along the Potomac and Monocacy, and local parks close by. Commuters are only about fifteen minutes from downtown Frederick, and the nearby MARC train station at Point of Rocks gives residents a practical option for traveling toward the Washington area.
