About Adin

Adin is a small census-designated place in Modoc County, California, situated at an elevation of 4,203 feet. Founded in 1869 by Adin McDowell as the first settlement in the county west of the Warner Mountains, the community originated as a mining supply point. Today, Adin has a population of around two hundred residents, is served by the Big Valley Joint Unified School District, and hosts the annual Golden State Star Party for amateur astronomers.
